Many of us have experienced broken seasons that left us with shattered identities. Healing is hard work. It involves a lot of undoing and unlearning, along with doing and learning. We become brave enough to follow a path of the unknown, trusting we will be whole once this journey concludes. Healing is a lifelong journey encompassing different paths. As you step out onto this path, say farewell to the unhealed version of yourself. You owe it to yourself to be who God says you are and who He has called you to

be. You deserve to be free.

The title of this book came to me one evening as I sat in the back seat of my dad’s car, waiting to drop my seven-month-old daughter off to her father. I was court-ordered to have supervised visits with my first and only child. I would not keep her overnight for the next two months. As I wondered how I would recover from the most painful time of my life, God told me, “You are broken on purpose.” From that day on, I trusted God more than ever, and now I faithfully embrace every season – no matter how hard it is.

Everything you have gone through has happened just how it was supposed to. You are being made stronger and wiser despite how broken you may feel. The abuse, the rejection, the abandonment, the depression, the loss of a loved one, the drug addiction, the betrayal – none of it was by accident. No matter how uncomfortable it made you feel. No matter how much it broke you. No matter how devastating it was. No matter how much you lost because of it – it all happened for a purpose. It’s time to stop focusing on what happened and embrace it had to happen. You, too, are broken on purpose for His purpose. Now it’s time to heal, live, and thrive
